Tree services in Carindale: what we see and what we do
Carindale was carved out of bushland through the 1970s and 80s, and the brick homes along Cadogan Street, Scrub Road and the Belmont side sit on generous blocks that kept the original blue gums and ironbarks. Bulimba Creek and the Carindale Recreation Reserve run through the middle, with gums and paperbarks in the corridor. A second generation of cocos palms, umbrella trees and leopard trees planted around the pools is now mature and crowding the houses.
We are 20 minutes away and Carindale is one of the crew's busiest suburbs: removing 30-metre gums from behind houses, taking out cocos palms and umbrella trees, and reducing leopard trees that have got too big for the yard. Trees may be protected under Brisbane City Council's Natural Assets Local Law 2003, especially near the creek, though a trunk within 3 metres of the house or under 30 centimetres diameter is generally exempt, and we check the mapping when we quote (council fact sheet).
Things to watch on Carindale properties
- Original blue gums and ironbarks dropping limbs over 1980s brick homes
- Umbrella tree roots in pipes and under pool surrounds
- Creek-side trees along Bulimba Creek that may sit in a waterway corridor

Brisbane City Council rules for Carindale trees
Brisbane City Council's Natural Assets Local Law 2003 protects vegetation in mapped bushland, waterway corridors, significant native and urban vegetation and under Vegetation Protection Orders, including on private land. Council's fact sheet sets out the exemptions that cover most suburban jobs: a tree whose whole trunk is within 3 metres of a lawfully built, occupied dwelling (6 metres on lots over 4,000m²), garden trees under 30cm trunk diameter at 1.4 metres, fence-line trees under 20cm, pruning of up to 20 per cent of live foliage in 12 months, dead trees, and trees showing an immediate hazard. Permit applications are free. None of the exemptions apply to significant landscape trees, and we check the mapping for your address as part of the quote.
