Tree services in Capalaba: what we see and what we do
Capalaba is the Redlands' commercial centre, but away from the shopping precinct it is a suburb of 1970s and 80s homes on decent blocks, with Tingalpa Creek and Coolnwynpin Creek running through the middle. Plenty of gardens still carry the original gums the estates were cut from, plus a generation of cocos palms, umbrella trees and camphor laurels planted when the houses were new. Powerlines run down most streets, so big trees and wires are often tangled together.
We are ten minutes away, so Capalaba is bread-and-butter work for the crew: removing overgrown cocos palms, taking down umbrella trees that are lifting paths, and pruning gums back off roofs to AS 4373. Redland City Council may protect trees on private land through City Plan overlays or Local Law No. 6, particularly along the creek corridors, and checking that is part of our quote (council tree protection page). If your tree sits inside the Energex exclusion zone we plan the job around it.
Things to watch on Capalaba properties
- Umbrella tree roots lifting paths and blocking pipes on older blocks
- Gum limbs over the street wires on 1970s estates
- Creek-side trees near Tingalpa and Coolnwynpin creeks that may sit in a waterway overlay

Redland City Council rules for Capalaba trees
Trees on private land in Redland City can be protected through environmental overlays of the Redland City Plan or Local Law No. 6 (Protection of Vegetation). In urban zones, Council's vegetation clearing fact sheet allows clearing of up to 500m² without approval outside mapped areas, and Council confirmed in November 2025 that routine trimming along fence lines and near buildings is not regulated under the City Plan. Koala habitat is the big one here: the Redlands Coast Koala Conservation Action Plan aims for no net loss of native vegetation, and blue gums, tallowwoods, grey gums and scribbly gums are the trees most likely to be mapped. We check the overlay for your address before we quote.
