Tree services in Sheldon: what we see and what we do
Sheldon is Dan's home turf. The crew is based on Avalon Road, so this is where we know the ground best. It is rural-residential acreage, mostly bushland, with Venman Bushland National Park on the doorstep and a strong koala population that favours the local ironbarks. Blocks run from a couple of thousand square metres up to several hectares, and most carry mature ironbark, tallowwood, grey gum and scribbly gum standing well within fall distance of the house.
Most of our Sheldon work is bushfire clearance, dead or hazardous gum removal, and thinning over sheds and driveways. Trees here may be protected under the Redland City Plan environmental overlays or Local Law No. 6, so we check the mapping for your lot before we quote (Redland City Council). Where a tree is a koala food tree we tell you, and where pruning to AS 4373 will do the job instead of removal we say so.
Things to watch on Sheldon properties
- Ironbark and tallowwood dropping limbs in hot, dry spells
- Bushfire fuel along tree lines before the July to December season
- Koala food trees that may need council sign-off before removal

Redland City Council rules for Sheldon trees
Trees on private land in Redland City can be protected through environmental overlays of the Redland City Plan or Local Law No. 6 (Protection of Vegetation). In urban zones, Council's vegetation clearing fact sheet allows clearing of up to 500m² without approval outside mapped areas, and Council confirmed in November 2025 that routine trimming along fence lines and near buildings is not regulated under the City Plan. Koala habitat is the big one here: the Redlands Coast Koala Conservation Action Plan aims for no net loss of native vegetation, and blue gums, tallowwoods, grey gums and scribbly gums are the trees most likely to be mapped. We check the overlay for your address before we quote.
