Tree services in Kedron: what we see and what we do
Kedron is an older suburb of 1930s to 50s Queenslanders and bungalows on standard blocks, with Kedron Brook running through the middle and Gympie Road on the eastern side. The trees match the houses: jacarandas and poincianas that fill the streets each spring, mangoes and frangipanis in the yards, and camphor laurels and figs that have grown far beyond their space. The brook corridor has paperbarks and gums, and the blocks along it get the storm runoff.
We are around 45 minutes away and take on Kedron jobs as part of north-side runs, mostly fig and camphor laurel removals in sections, poinciana reductions and pruning jacarandas away from the house. Trees may be protected under Brisbane City Council's Natural Assets Local Law 2003, particularly near the brook, though a trunk within 3 metres of the house or under 30 centimetres diameter is generally exempt, and we confirm this for your address as part of the quote (council fact sheet).
Things to watch on Kedron properties
- Camphor laurels and figs outgrowing pre-war blocks
- Poinciana limbs splitting out in summer storms
- Kedron Brook corridor trees that may need a council permit

Brisbane City Council rules for Kedron trees
Most of the northside is Brisbane City Council, where the Natural Assets Local Law 2003 applies and the council fact sheet exempts trees within 3 metres of the house, trees under 30cm trunk diameter, dead and hazardous trees, and pruning of up to 20 per cent of foliage a year. Albany Creek, Strathpine, North Lakes and everything north of the Pine River is the City of Moreton Bay, which protects habitat trees and koala habitat through its planning scheme overlays and says you may need approval before clearing. We check whichever mapping applies to your address before quoting.
