Tree services in Springwood: what we see and what we do
Springwood is an established 1970s and 80s suburb straddling the Pacific Motorway, with the Springwood Conservation Park and a network of gullies giving it a bushy feel. Blocks are generous and many houses sit under tall gums that were there before the streets. Along with the native blue gums, ironbarks and she-oaks there are plenty of period plantings: cocos palms, umbrella trees, camphor laurels and mango trees. Powerlines follow most streets and the motorway corridor.
Dan's crew is in Springwood most weeks for big gum removals in tight yards, palm and umbrella tree removals and storm clean-up. Logan City Council regulates clearing inside its Biodiversity Areas and Waterway Corridors overlays, which follow the conservation park and gullies, and lots elsewhere under 5,000 square metres are generally exempt, so we check your address before quoting (Logan City Council). Where a tree can be pruned to AS 4373 instead of removed we say so.
Things to watch on Springwood properties
- Original blue gums and ironbarks leaning over 1970s roofs
- Gully-side blocks inside waterway and biodiversity mapping
- Umbrella tree roots in old terracotta sewer lines

Logan City Council rules for Springwood trees
Logan protects vegetation through the Biodiversity Areas Overlay and the Waterway Corridors and Wetlands Overlay of the Logan Planning Scheme 2015. Outside those mapped areas, clearing on a lot under 5,000m² is generally exempt, as is a bushfire protection zone within 10 metres of a dwelling, garden and lawn maintenance, and removal of cadaghi and umbrella trees. Inside a Biodiversity Area, a koala corridor or a waterway corridor you need an operational works approval. Council has an online vegetation clearing decision tool and we run your address through the mapping before quoting.
