Tree services in Alexandra Hills: what we see and what we do
Alexandra Hills was built out through the 1970s and 80s on rolling ground between Capalaba and Cleveland, and most blocks are a solid 600 to 800 square metres. The estates were cut from ironbark and gum forest, and a lot of the original trees stayed, so it is common to find a 20-metre gum at the back fence of an ordinary suburban yard. Hilliards Creek and its tributaries thread through the suburb, and Finucane Road carries the main powerlines.
For the crew, Alexandra Hills work means climbing and dismantling big gums in tight backyards, deadwooding trees that drop limbs in summer, and clearing camphor laurels and umbrella trees that have seeded along fence lines. Redland City Council may protect trees here through City Plan overlays or Local Law No. 6, and creek-side lots are the ones most likely to be mapped, so we check before we quote (Redland City Council). Timber is chipped on site and the mulch is yours if you want it.
Things to watch on Alexandra Hills properties
- Original forest gums towering over 1970s homes and neighbours' roofs
- Sudden branch drop from eucalypts through the hot months
- Camphor laurel and umbrella tree seedlings taking over fence lines

Redland City Council rules for Alexandra Hills trees
Trees on private land in Redland City can be protected through environmental overlays of the Redland City Plan or Local Law No. 6 (Protection of Vegetation). In urban zones, Council's vegetation clearing fact sheet allows clearing of up to 500m² without approval outside mapped areas, and Council confirmed in November 2025 that routine trimming along fence lines and near buildings is not regulated under the City Plan. Koala habitat is the big one here: the Redlands Coast Koala Conservation Action Plan aims for no net loss of native vegetation, and blue gums, tallowwoods, grey gums and scribbly gums are the trees most likely to be mapped. We check the overlay for your address before we quote.
