Tree services in Cornubia: what we see and what we do
Cornubia is acreage and large-lot bushland on the boundary between Logan and the Redlands, just over the hill from Sheldon via Mount Cotton Road. Cornubia Forest and the surrounding reserves make it prime koala country, and blocks carry ironbark, spotted gum, tallowwood, grey gum and hoop pine, with old macadamias and mangoes near the houses. Steep driveways, long fence lines and trees standing well inside fall distance of the house are the norm.
Cornubia is fifteen minutes from base and a regular for the crew: removing dead and hazardous gums, deadwooding over homes and sheds, and bushfire clearance along driveways. Much of the suburb sits inside Logan City Council's Biodiversity Areas overlay and mapped koala habitat, where clearing may need approval unless an exemption applies, so we check your lot's mapping before quoting (Logan City Council). Timber can be left as firewood, and mulch stays on site if you want it.
Things to watch on Cornubia properties
- Koala food trees across the block, especially tallowwood and grey gum
- Long driveways and tree lines carrying bushfire fuel
- Ironbark and spotted gum limbs over sheds and water tanks

Logan City Council rules for Cornubia trees
Logan protects vegetation through the Biodiversity Areas Overlay and the Waterway Corridors and Wetlands Overlay of the Logan Planning Scheme 2015. Outside those mapped areas, clearing on a lot under 5,000m² is generally exempt, as is a bushfire protection zone within 10 metres of a dwelling, garden and lawn maintenance, and removal of cadaghi and umbrella trees. Inside a Biodiversity Area, a koala corridor or a waterway corridor you need an operational works approval. Council has an online vegetation clearing decision tool and we run your address through the mapping before quoting.
