Tree services in Bardon: what we see and what we do
Bardon sits in the Mount Coot-tha foothills, with 1930s to 60s homes on steep standard blocks along Ithaca Creek and up the gullies towards the reserve. The western streets back straight onto bushland, so spotted gums and hoop pines stand in the yards alongside the jacarandas, poincianas and camphor laurels planted with the houses. Chinese elms have spread along the creek, and the slopes mean most trees are above or below the house rather than beside it.
Bardon is about 45 minutes from our yard. Steep, tight access makes most jobs climb-and-lower work: camphor laurel and Chinese elm removals, gum deadwooding over roofs and hoop pine reductions. Trees may be protected under Brisbane City Council's Natural Assets Local Law 2003, particularly on the reserve edge and along Ithaca Creek, though a trunk within 3 metres of the house or under 30 centimetres diameter is generally exempt, and we check the mapping for your block before quoting (council fact sheet).

Brisbane City Council rules for Bardon trees
The western suburbs are Brisbane City Council, so the Natural Assets Local Law 2003 applies. Council's fact sheet exempts trees within 3 metres of an occupied dwelling (6 metres on lots over 4,000m², which covers much of Brookfield, Pullenvale and Moggill), trees under 30cm trunk diameter, dead trees, hazardous trees and pruning of up to 20 per cent of foliage a year. The west also has more mapped bushland and waterway corridors than most of the city, along Moggill Creek, around Mount Coot-tha and through the Pullenvale valleys, so the mapping check matters more here.
