Dangerous, dead, storm-damaged or just in the wrong spot. We take trees down safely in tight Brisbane backyards and on acreage, chip the lot and leave the yard cleaner than we found it.

What we do

Tree Removal in Brisbane, the Redlands and Logan

Tree removal is the job Dan's Tree Experts is built around. Most of the trees we remove are gums, palms, camphor laurels and Chinese elms that have outgrown a suburban block, are dropping limbs over a roof or driveway, or came down badly in a storm. We climb and dismantle them in sections when there is no room to fell, rig heavy limbs down on ropes over houses, pools and fences, and feed everything through the chipper on the day.

Every removal is planned before a saw starts: where each section will land, what the rigging points are, where the truck and chipper sit, and whether Energex needs to be involved for lines nearby. The work is done to the Safe Work Australia guide to managing the risks of tree work, with the ground crew keeping the site clear and the client well back.

We work from Sheldon, so the Redlands, Logan and Brisbane's southside are home turf, and we travel across north Brisbane, the western suburbs and the northern Gold Coast for removals every week.

What's included in our tree removal service

Site assessment and written quote

We look at the tree, the access, the targets underneath it and the council mapping, then give you a fixed written price. No hourly surprises.

Climbing or felling

Where there is space we fell the tree in one piece. In backyards we climb and take it down in sections, lowering heavy wood on ropes and pulleys.

Rigging over houses, pools and fences

Limbs over structures are tied off and lowered under control, never dropped. This is most of the skill in suburban tree removal.

Chipping and removal of all green waste

Branches go through the chipper on the day. Trunk wood is cut into rounds and taken away, or left as firewood if you want it.

Stump grinding (optional)

Add stump grinding to the same visit and the stump is gone below ground level, ready for turf or a garden bed.

Clean-up and rake-out

Sawdust blown off, lawn raked, driveway swept. You should not be able to tell we were there except the tree is gone.

When a tree should come out

  • Large dead limbs, dieback in the crown, or fungus growing at the base
  • A lean that has got worse, or soil lifting on one side of the trunk
  • Storm damage: split unions, hanging limbs, or a cracked trunk
  • Roots lifting slabs, paths or the pool shell, or blocking pipes
  • A camphor laurel, Chinese elm or umbrella tree taking over the yard
  • Too close to the house, the powerlines or a planned shed, pool or extension

FAQ

Tree Removal in Brisbane: common questions

Do I need council approval to remove a tree in Brisbane?

Sometimes. Brisbane City Council's Natural Assets Local Law protects some vegetation, but the council's own fact sheet lists exemptions: a tree whose whole trunk is within 3 metres of your house, trees under 30cm trunk diameter measured at 1.4m, dead trees, and trees showing an immediate hazard. Redland, Logan, Moreton Bay and the Gold Coast each have their own rules. We check the mapping for your address as part of the quote and tell you plainly whether a permit is needed.

How long does a tree removal take?

A small tree is usually an hour or two including clean-up. A large gum being dismantled over a house is most of a day for the full crew. We tell you the expected time on the quote so you can plan around cars, pets and the neighbours.

Can you remove a tree that is close to powerlines?

Yes, within the rules. Energex sets a 3 metre exclusion zone around powerlines for anyone who is not an authorised person. Trees near the service line to your house can often be worked with care; trees in the street lines are Energex's job or need a shutdown. We identify this at the quote and organise what is needed.

What happens to the wood and the branches?

Branches are chipped on site and taken away, or the mulch can be left for your garden at no charge if you want it. Trunk wood is removed, or cut into firewood rounds and stacked where you want them. Nothing is left in a pile for you to deal with.

Are you insured?

Yes. Dan's Tree Experts carries public liability insurance and our crew are qualified arborists working to Australian Standard AS 4373 and the Safe Work Australia tree work guide. A copy of the certificate of currency is available with your quote on request.

Do you do emergency tree removal after storms?

Yes, seven days a week. If a tree is on the house or blocking a driveway, call 0466 270 743 and we prioritise it. If a tree is touching a powerline, stay 10 metres away and call 000 or Energex first. See our emergency tree removal page.
