Tree services in Toowong: what we see and what we do
Toowong climbs from the river and the Toowong Village centre up the eastern slopes of Mount Coot-tha, with Queenslanders and pre-war homes on standard blocks and unit towers along the river. The older streets around the cemetery and Sherwood Road have jacarandas, poincianas and hoop pines that have had a century to grow, and the yards carry figs, camphor laurels and frangipanis. Steep driveways, retaining walls and tight side access are the norm on the hill.
Toowong is around 40 minutes from our yard. Most jobs are dismantles on tight blocks: camphor laurels and figs lowered in sections, poinciana reductions and pruning jacarandas off roofs and wires. Trees may be protected under Brisbane City Council's Natural Assets Local Law 2003, and Toowong has a fair number of significant trees, though a trunk within 3 metres of the house or under 30 centimetres diameter is generally exempt, and we check the mapping for your address before quoting (council fact sheet).

Brisbane City Council rules for Toowong trees
The western suburbs are Brisbane City Council, so the Natural Assets Local Law 2003 applies. Council's fact sheet exempts trees within 3 metres of an occupied dwelling (6 metres on lots over 4,000m², which covers much of Brookfield, Pullenvale and Moggill), trees under 30cm trunk diameter, dead trees, hazardous trees and pruning of up to 20 per cent of foliage a year. The west also has more mapped bushland and waterway corridors than most of the city, along Moggill Creek, around Mount Coot-tha and through the Pullenvale valleys, so the mapping check matters more here.
