What we do

Land & Block Clearing in Brisbane, the Redlands and Logan

Block clearing around Brisbane is as much about the paperwork as the chainsaw. In Redland City, Logan and Brisbane's rural-residential fringe (Sheldon, Mount Cotton, Cornubia, Logan Village, Chandler, Gumdale, Brookfield), many blocks sit inside environmental overlays, waterway corridors or koala habitat mapping. Some clearing is allowed without approval: the state's koala rules allow a once-off 500m² around a home and fire breaks, Logan's scheme exempts a 10-metre bushfire zone around a dwelling, and Redland's fact sheet allows up to 500m² in urban zones. Beyond that you need an approval, and clearing first and asking later is expensive.

We look at the mapping for your lot before we quote, tell you what can be cleared as of right and what needs an application, and then do the work: selective removal of the trees in the way, stumps ground or left as requested, regrowth and understorey cut, and everything chipped. Mulch can stay on site for tracks and beds, which on acreage is usually the most useful thing to do with it.

Typical jobs: clearing a house pad and driveway on a new acreage lot, opening up a fence line, creating an asset protection zone before bushfire season, removing camphor laurel and Chinese elm infestations along a creek, and thinning a paddock of regrowth gums.

FAQ

Land & Block Clearing in Brisbane: common questions

Can I clear my acreage block without council approval?

Some of it, usually. Each council has exemptions: bushfire zones around the house, small areas in urban zones, dead trees, declared weeds and boundary fence lines. Environmental overlays, waterway corridors and koala habitat mapping override those in places. We check your lot's mapping before quoting and tell you what falls where.

What is a bushfire asset protection zone?

A managed area around the house where fuel is reduced so a fire has less to burn as it approaches. Logan's scheme exempts clearing within 10 metres of a dwelling for this purpose. In practice it means lifting low limbs to about 2 metres, removing understorey and dead material, and keeping the canopy thinned, not clear-felling.

Do you clear with machinery?

For tree work we use climbers, saws, a chipper and a stump grinder, which do far less damage to the block than a dozer. Where a job needs earthmoving as well, for a pad or a dam, we work in with your excavation contractor.

What happens to all the timber?

Chipped on site and left as mulch for tracks and beds, or removed. Good logs can be left as firewood or fence posts if you want them. Nothing is burnt: open burning needs its own permit and we do not do it.
