Tree services in Stafford: what we see and what we do
Stafford is a post-war suburb of timber and brick homes on standard blocks either side of Stafford Road, with Kedron Brook and its bikeway forming the southern boundary. The yards carry 60-year-old mangoes, jacarandas and poincianas, plus the umbrella trees and cocos palms that were popular a generation later. Blocks are being rebuilt or split for townhouses in a lot of streets, which means mature trees next to new slabs, pools and driveways.
Stafford is about 45 minutes from Sheldon and we cover it on north-side runs. Removals ahead of rebuilds, mango and poinciana reductions and umbrella tree jobs make up most of the work. Trees may be protected under Brisbane City Council's Natural Assets Local Law 2003, though a trunk within 3 metres of the house or under 30 centimetres diameter is generally exempt, and we check the mapping for your block before we quote (council fact sheet). Pruning is to AS 4373-2007.
Things to watch on Stafford properties
- Mature mangoes and jacarandas in the way of townhouse builds
- Umbrella tree roots under paths and in stormwater pipes
- Kedron Brook corridor trees that may be mapped as waterway vegetation

Brisbane City Council rules for Stafford trees
Most of the northside is Brisbane City Council, where the Natural Assets Local Law 2003 applies and the council fact sheet exempts trees within 3 metres of the house, trees under 30cm trunk diameter, dead and hazardous trees, and pruning of up to 20 per cent of foliage a year. Albany Creek, Strathpine, North Lakes and everything north of the Pine River is the City of Moreton Bay, which protects habitat trees and koala habitat through its planning scheme overlays and says you may need approval before clearing. We check whichever mapping applies to your address before quoting.
