Tree work in Redlands & Bayside
The Redlands is a mix of everything a tree crew deals with. Older bayside suburbs like Cleveland, Wellington Point and Birkdale have big post-war blocks with mature gums, poincianas and camphor laurels that are now well over the houses. Newer estates at Thornlands, Victoria Point and Redland Bay were planted with cocos palms and golden canes twenty years ago that have outgrown their spots. And the rural-residential belt through Sheldon, Mount Cotton and the back of Capalaba is bushland, with koala habitat mapping and blocks of an acre or more full of ironbark and blue gum.
Storm exposure is real on the bay. The November 2025 hailstorms put 11cm hail onto the bayside, and ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred in March 2025 came ashore just up the coast. Trees that were already carrying dead wood or had been lopped years ago were the ones that failed. Most of our winter work in the Redlands is getting big gums deadwooded and reduced before the next season.

Trees on private land in Redland City can be protected through environmental overlays of the Redland City Plan or Local Law No. 6 (Protection of Vegetation). In urban zones, Council's vegetation clearing fact sheet allows clearing of up to 500m² without approval outside mapped areas, and Council confirmed in November 2025 that routine trimming along fence lines and near buildings is not regulated under the City Plan. Koala habitat is the big one here: the Redlands Coast Koala Conservation Action Plan aims for no net loss of native vegetation, and blue gums, tallowwoods, grey gums and scribbly gums are the trees most likely to be mapped. We check the overlay for your address before we quote.
