Tree services in Chermside: what we see and what we do
Chermside is built around the Westfield centre and the hospital precinct, but the streets behind them are 1950s and 60s post-war homes on standard blocks, with Kedron Brook and Marchant Park along the southern and eastern sides. The trees are of that vintage: jacarandas and poincianas on the verges, mangoes and camphor laurels behind the houses, and Chinese elms seeded along fences. A lot of blocks are now going to units, which puts old trees beside new excavations.
Chermside is about 45 minutes from our yard across the Gateway, so we group jobs on the north side. Common work is pre-development clearing, camphor laurel removal and reducing mangoes and jacarandas off roofs and wires. Trees may be protected under Brisbane City Council's Natural Assets Local Law 2003, though a trunk within 3 metres of the house or under 30 centimetres diameter is generally exempt, and we check the mapping before we quote (council fact sheet).

Brisbane City Council rules for Chermside trees
Most of the northside is Brisbane City Council, where the Natural Assets Local Law 2003 applies and the council fact sheet exempts trees within 3 metres of the house, trees under 30cm trunk diameter, dead and hazardous trees, and pruning of up to 20 per cent of foliage a year. Albany Creek, Strathpine, North Lakes and everything north of the Pine River is the City of Moreton Bay, which protects habitat trees and koala habitat through its planning scheme overlays and says you may need approval before clearing. We check whichever mapping applies to your address before quoting.
