Tree services in Shailer Park: what we see and what we do
Shailer Park is one of Logan's leafiest suburbs, built through the 1980s and 90s on hilly ground beside the Daisy Hill Conservation Park. Blocks are larger than average, many are steep, and the estates kept a lot of the original forest: tall spotted gums, ironbarks and grey gums stand over houses, with silky oaks, jacarandas and leopard trees in the gardens. The conservation park is core koala habitat and koalas move through backyards along the bush edge.
Most Shailer Park work is height work: climbing and dismantling big gums on sloping blocks where the truck cannot get close, deadwooding over roofs, and thinning crowns before storm season. Because the suburb borders the conservation park, many lots sit inside Logan City Council's Biodiversity Areas overlay, where clearing may need approval unless an exemption applies, so we check the mapping before quoting (Logan City Council). We flag koala food trees and suggest pruning where that will do.
Things to watch on Shailer Park properties

Logan City Council rules for Shailer Park trees
Logan protects vegetation through the Biodiversity Areas Overlay and the Waterway Corridors and Wetlands Overlay of the Logan Planning Scheme 2015. Outside those mapped areas, clearing on a lot under 5,000m² is generally exempt, as is a bushfire protection zone within 10 metres of a dwelling, garden and lawn maintenance, and removal of cadaghi and umbrella trees. Inside a Biodiversity Area, a koala corridor or a waterway corridor you need an operational works approval. Council has an online vegetation clearing decision tool and we run your address through the mapping before quoting.
