Tree services in Coomera: what we see and what we do
Coomera is one of the fastest-growing areas in the country, with new estates spreading out from Westfield Coomera and the train station toward the Coomera River. Most housing is less than 15 years old on small blocks, so the trees are young and were planted close: golden canes, Alexandra palms, foxtail palms, tuckeroos and lilly pilly hedges hard against fences and slabs. Older pockets near the river and around Dreamworld still hold big paperbarks, blue gums and she-oaks.
In Coomera the crew's work is mostly estate maintenance: removing palms that have outgrown their spot, taking out trees planted too close to the house, hedge trimming and stump grinding. The City of Gold Coast treats any tree over 4 metres tall or 40 centimetres in trunk circumference as assessable vegetation, so removal may need an application, and we check that as part of the quote (City of Gold Coast). Green waste is chipped and taken away, or left as mulch if you want it.
Things to watch on Coomera properties
- Palms and tuckeroos planted within a metre of slabs and pool fences
- Trees now past the 4 metre threshold for Gold Coast assessment
- Paperbarks and gums along the Coomera River in older pockets

City of Gold Coast rules for Coomera trees
The City of Gold Coast treats any tree over 4 metres tall or with a trunk circumference over 40cm at 1.3 metres as assessable vegetation, along with mapped native and remnant vegetation. Removal is accepted development without an application in a number of situations, including near boundaries and buildings (the distance depends on lot size), within 1.5 metres of a pool fence, pest species, bushfire hazard around a dwelling and trees confirmed dangerous by a council arborist; otherwise an operational works application is needed. We check the situation for your lot before we quote.
