Tree services in Cleveland: what we see and what we do
Cleveland is the old heart of the Redlands, sitting on the bay with Cleveland Point at one end and the Raby Bay canals at the other. Older streets around Shore Street and Bloomfield Street have big blocks with mature jacarandas, poincianas and Moreton Bay figs, while Raby Bay runs to tightly planted palms and hedges on small waterfront lots. Salt wind off Moreton Bay shapes the trees here, and storm cells crossing the bay hit the foreshore first.
The crew does a lot of canopy reductions and deadwooding in Cleveland, keeping big old trees safe without losing them, plus palm removals in the canal estate where roots are crowding pools and revetment walls. Under the Redland City Plan and Local Law No. 6, trees on private land may be protected, so we check the overlays on your lot before quoting (Redland City Council). Every prune is done to AS 4373-2007, which rules out lopping and topping.
Things to watch on Cleveland properties
- Big figs and poincianas with heavy limbs over older homes
- Cocos and Canary Island date palms crowding canal-front pools
- Salt-burnt and wind-damaged crowns after bay storms

Redland City Council rules for Cleveland trees
Trees on private land in Redland City can be protected through environmental overlays of the Redland City Plan or Local Law No. 6 (Protection of Vegetation). In urban zones, Council's vegetation clearing fact sheet allows clearing of up to 500m² without approval outside mapped areas, and Council confirmed in November 2025 that routine trimming along fence lines and near buildings is not regulated under the City Plan. Koala habitat is the big one here: the Redlands Coast Koala Conservation Action Plan aims for no net loss of native vegetation, and blue gums, tallowwoods, grey gums and scribbly gums are the trees most likely to be mapped. We check the overlay for your address before we quote.
