Tree services in Coorparoo: what we see and what we do
Coorparoo is one of Brisbane's older suburbs, with pre-war Queenslanders and interwar bungalows on the hills between Old Cleveland Road and Norman Creek. The trees are as old as the houses: jacarandas and poincianas that fill the street in spring, camphor laurels and figs that have outgrown any yard, and mangoes and frangipanis in the back corners. Blocks are standard size and close together, so most trees overhang a neighbour, a footpath or the overhead lines.
The crew does careful work in Coorparoo because there is rarely a drop zone. Most jobs are camphor laurel and fig removals in sections, poinciana reductions and pruning big jacarandas away from roofs and wires. Trees may be protected under Brisbane City Council's Natural Assets Local Law 2003, although a trunk within 3 metres of the house or under 30 centimetres diameter is generally exempt, and we confirm that for your address before quoting (council fact sheet).
Things to watch on Coorparoo properties
- Camphor laurels and figs on tight pre-war blocks with no drop zone
- Old jacaranda and poinciana limbs over the street wires
- Norman Creek corridor trees that may sit in a mapped waterway area

Brisbane City Council rules for Coorparoo trees
Brisbane City Council's Natural Assets Local Law 2003 protects vegetation in mapped bushland, waterway corridors, significant native and urban vegetation and under Vegetation Protection Orders, including on private land. Council's fact sheet sets out the exemptions that cover most suburban jobs: a tree whose whole trunk is within 3 metres of a lawfully built, occupied dwelling (6 metres on lots over 4,000m²), garden trees under 30cm trunk diameter at 1.4 metres, fence-line trees under 20cm, pruning of up to 20 per cent of live foliage in 12 months, dead trees, and trees showing an immediate hazard. Permit applications are free. None of the exemptions apply to significant landscape trees, and we check the mapping for your address as part of the quote.
